In this section we look at the key contextual issues around successful innovation management. In Chapter 3 we pick up the question: do we have an innovative organization? We examine the role which key concepts such as leadership, structure, communication and motivation play in building and sustaining a culture of focused creativity.

Chapter 4 looks at the question: do we have a clear innovation strategy? Is there a clear sense of where and how innovation will take the organization forward and is there a roadmap for this? Is the strategy shared and understood – and how can we ensure alignment of the various different innovation efforts across the organization? We examine the central role that capabilities and positions have in developing an innovation strategy.
