Collaborative Innovation

For many companies, global projects inevitably become a necessity simply because of the growing need for collaborative innovation. But the idea of collaboration is much more than offshoring or bringing in subcontractors to develop specific modules, which we discussed in the previous chapter. As we have stressed throughout this book, the knowledge a company needs for innovation is increasingly dispersed not only geographically but across different sectors and specialties. So a company will find some of the critical knowledge, skills, and capabilities needed for innovation in other firms.
