Treat Yers as Colleagues, Not as Interns or “Teenagers”

•   Seek Gen Yer input on decisions, minor or major, that have a direct impact on their work. Make it clear that their spontaneous input is welcome anytime.

•   Have Yers represent you at meetings or workshops when you can’t attend. Prime them for what they can expect and for what information you want upon their return.

•   Place a high value on their innovative spirit. If you only hire people who think like you, what you have is a lot of redundancy on your staff. You need people who can push the envelope, who can act as well as think over the brick-and-mortar walls.
