Focus on Work, but Be Personable and Have a Sense of Humor

•   Concentrate, first and foremost, on the work to be done, but do so in a lighthearted manner. You can be serious about the work without taking yourself too seriously.

•   Help Gen Yers find the fun in work, such as learning new skills, building relationships with impressive people, and achieving tangible results they can put their name on. You don’t need video-game breaks or practical jokes to make work fun.

•   Create a “fun budget” and administer it. Something as simple as lunches together or “bagel Mondays” or “ice-cream Wednesdays” can create a feeling of camaraderie. Group trips, chair massages, or afternoon sports breaks take the culture of fun one step ...
