PUTTING PRAISE AND FLATTERY TO WORK

Recent research confirms what we all suspected: flattery works. But the research goes further: there is no point at which flattery becomes counterproductive. In other words, the more you flatter, the better.

The research makes sense in the real world. Most people who work in an organisation feel under-recognised, under-rewarded and under- promoted. We can never quite accept that the oddball we knew from years ago got the promotion which we clearly deserved. If we feel we live in a cruel, uncaring and unfair world, then we are not alone in our feelings.
