Attrition — watch out

Here are some situations where managers need to watch out for the beginning of attrition in the team:

• The usual time of attrition:
  • Watch out for certain points in an employee's career where an individual may think of a new job. For example, a campus hire may look for a new job or higher studies after two years of experience. Also, there's a big difference perceived between one year of experience and two years. Two years of experience is valued much more by the industry, giving an individual more leverage.
  • When engineers complete six or seven years of experience, they look for another job to justify their entry into a new league of engineers.
