Elements of Strategic Evaluation

The evaluation of options involves the strategic evaluation as well as a financial evaluation.

A useful framework for evaluating strategic options was put forward by Johnson, Scholes, and Whittington (2007) in their book Exploring Corporate Strategy. Suitability, acceptability, and feasibility, it is possible to remember this as SAFe. If, however, the aspect of risk is highlighted and considered as a separate element the mnemonic SAFeR can be used.
