Organize the Portfolio

When it’s time to organize the portfolio from the work, organize it so you can see the timeline of the work moving in one direction (I like left to right) and can see the work from top to bottom, in rank-order priority. If you don’t know the rank order now, guess. You can see several approaches to evaluate the portfolio in Chapter 5, Rank the Portfolio. Use a simple template to help you organize the work.

This starting point doesn’t need to be fancy. Capture the information—all the work. Don’t become involved in the formatting and making things look pretty. You can start with something as bare bones as the chart shown.
