Now that you’ve evaluated each project the first time, it’s time to refine your approach to the portfolio. You have a list of projects you would like to commit to. But you need to rank them against each other so that you staff only the most important projects.

The most important projects are the ones that provide the most business value. Business value might be a way to obtain more customers or retain the ones you have or create a new market altogether. It might be a way to release products faster or make more money on support or spend less money on support. Business value will be unique for your organization and your projects.
