The most important management technique for multisite projects is to help the teams learn to trust each other.

Teams who have common commitments and interdependent deliverables learn to trust each other as they complete their deliverables and follow through on their commitments. Your job is to help each team develop their commitments and define their deliverables. You can manage the schedule and delivery of interdependent pieces in three ways: make sure each site has complete deliverables to the project, make sure your teams can cooperate with each other, and help people meet each other in person.
