Schedule Trance
The Big Cheese from headquarters is coming to visit next Tuesday. Or you have a trade show in ten weeks. No matter what, you have an immovable date and an ambitious or impossible feature set to complete before that date. Maybe the team has been measuring velocity, maybe not. You don’t see how the team can meet the date with the entire feature set. It seems as if the team is in a trance about the date (see Figure 29, Schedule Trance). Sometimes, this is a team’s response to Happy Date.
