One of my managers actually said this to me. “I’d like you to spend 50% of your time on Project A, 30% of your time on Project B, and 20% of your time on Project C. In your spare time, can you look over the report for the Big Cheese?” I said, “What spare time?”

Split Focus (see Figure 20, Split Focus) is the multiproject multitasking game. It occurs when the management team is unable to commit to a project/ program strategy. Instead of just saying yes or no or “when?” to each project, they say yes to all projects.
