Across our partner and CEO interviews, the list of admired companies was not as long as we had expected. Enduring success is more elusive than one would have imagined. In fact, there were only three that seemed to come through frequently as top of the list for avoiding many if not all of the ten deadly sins outlined in the previous chapter: IBM, Apple (of course) and Amazon.

IBM because of its ability to change strategy (at least twice in its past 40 years) and still remain a powerful and successful company.

Apple because of its ability to identify consumer needs before consumers know them themselves.
