The Authors

Bill Manaris is a computer science educator, researcher, and musician. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science and is professor of computer science and director of computing in the arts program at the College of Charleston, South Carolina. He has studied music theory, and classical and jazz guitar, and performs live occasionally. He has been active in curriculum development in human–computer interaction, artificial intelligence, and computing in the arts. His teaching experience spans 30 years. His research interests include statistical, connectionist, and evolutionary techniques for modeling human aesthetics and creativity in music and art.
