SCULPTURE AND INSTALLATIONS

No matter what you do to maps, they never seem to lose their integrity or charm. Cut them, carve them, combine them with other materials, turn them into sculpture—they still come through and speak to us as maps. In the process, they add dimension and a bit of a backstory to the mediums and materials we use with them. Just looking at maps begins a process of thinking that can quickly turn three-dimensional.

There are a surprising number of wall-trophy kits and papier-mâché animals available and ready to decorate. I found this one at a local craft store.
