There are products such as congealed blood and blushing gel that are useful to keep in your kit, but they are sold in small quantities and are expensive to use on a large scale.

Gelatine is a very good alternative substance for making wounds and accident effects. Prosthetic pieces can also be made from it. It can be melted and coloured in advance and then carried around in its solid form. It is largely harmless and is simply washed off with soap and water.

Once melted, it is so quick and effective that it is particularly useful for such things as making-up crowd artists involved in a multiple crash.
