Character Make-Up

As with ageing, most character make-up is done with creams or grease paints so that the work can be done with ease: the make-up ‘moves’ more easily and changes to it can be made as you go along.

Character make-up can be ‘copied’, as in clown make-up, or can be personally designed to suit the character or fantasy.

The important thing is the application of the different materials.

1.   If any special effects such as prosthetics, latex or wax are being used, they should be applied to clean skin before the foundation. It must be remembered that make-up applied to anything other than real skin will reflect or absorb light differently.
