Lighting
The most basic requirement for lighting is to provide sufficient light to expose the pictures in the camera, but lighting can also influence shape, depth, the character of the scene, atmosphere, composition and can direct the eye to a particular part of the scene. Skilful use of light on a face can accentuate or minimize the good or the bad features of the person being photographed.
It is essential that lighting and make-up work closely together. A lighting director will take into consideration all the shadows his or her lights will produce and aspects such as reflections in spectacles and contact lenses, while the make-up department corrects the smaller imperfections.
