IS THERE NO LIMIT TO THE VERSATILITY OF LEGO? Researchers at the University of Cambridge are using Lego Mindstorms sets to automate a process for creating synthetic bone tissue. Ph.D. students in the Department of Engineering built robotic cranes out of Lego pieces and motors that repeatedly dip tissue compounds in solutions of calcium/protein and phosphate/protein to build up the artificial bone samples.
