Chapter 3. Drone Activities

While the main focus of this book will be building drones, let’s stop for a moment to consider what we can do with them once they are built. Different drones for different jobs, of course. The smallest toy drones might be mostly for fun, but they can be great for training too. Most larger drones carry a camera, but aerial photography can be used for anything from real estate to search and rescue.

While we may customize each drone for a particular activity—bigger motors and props for a heavy camera, small and low-latency video gear for an FPV racer—the design principles and even much of the equipment gets shared between these subgroups.
