CHAPTER NINEGO WEST, YOUNG MAN

AH, THE WEST COAST. The sun, the stars, the palm trees.

Oh, did I mention the traffic, the smog, and the fact that nobody walks? For me, LA is one of those places that are perfect when you’re young, good-looking, and single. Or old, ugly, and rich.

I did have a complete love affair with LA from the early days of the agency, not only because I went on regular five-star shoots but because I was in the young and single stage, not to mention that there were exciting meetings to be had with movie studios that were looking for a new creative resource and agency shoots as well. And presumably, they hoped we were bringing passion and vision to the mix.

Given my hotel proclivities, I’d become a habitué of the Beverly Hills ...
