If it weren’t for the fact that their darling computers are so darn special, you might expect loyal Macintosh users to have an inferiority complex. But nothing is inferior about the Mac operating system, and even a market share that has been teeny-tiny is climbing.

Apple has been able to persuade more and more people to switch sides. The runaway successes of the iPod, iPhone, and iPad have helped Apple lure more Windows defectors. So did the clever and funny TV ads Apple ran for a while, pitting a hip Mac guy against a nerdy PC counterpart.

The bottom line is that this is, for better or worse, still a Windows-dominated planet, at least when it comes to personal computers. Over the years, and more times than not, the Apple user has had to adapt to the Windows environment rather than the other way around.
