Images provide much of the artistry and visual appeal of the web. Used with care and imagination, images can add sparkle and charm; used without discretion, they can slow download times to a crawl and cause more annoyance than enjoyment. Understanding graphics and being able to manipulate them on web pages is critical to a web designer’s success. This chapter takes a quick look at the basics of images, the browser, and Dreamweaver.
