Working with Files

Files are the stuff that your work is made of. (At least, they are on a computer.) And files are where many of your cross-platform problems lie. Most people don't realize that a lot of the problems with files downloaded from the Internet are actually cross-platform file problems.

Some of the file incompatibilities you may run into have to do with the fact that Mac files are intrinsically different from Windows and Linux files. This section first deals with some basic differences between Mac files and files created on other computers and how these differences cause cross-platform problems. I then proceed to specific problems with using files that PC users send you and problems with files you send to PC users.
