Printing to Disk (BW)

It may surprise you to know that a print job doesn't necessarily have to go to a printer after you click the Print button. It can also get routed to your hard drive, to be stored as a file. This is often called printing to disk. People mainly do this to send PostScript files to a service bureau using expensive PostScript imagesetters, color printers, printing presses, or other equipment that we common folk can't afford to own. Often the most reliable way to get your PostScript job to such a bureau is to set up your print options so that you can capture on disk the PostScript code that would normally go to your printer.
