Desktop Printing in Mac OS 8 and Mac OS 9 (BW)

In System versions before Mac OS 8, you selected a printer pretty much as described above. Every time you needed to print to a different printer, you took a trip to the Chooser. Things changed with Mac OS 8, though, and now you don't always have to go through this step. To save this time, though, you have to spend a little more time up front in setting up your printer so that you can bypass the Chooser.

Starting with Mac OS 8, the Chooser can set up what's called a desktop printer for every printer you select in the Chooser's Connect To window.
