Getting Your Printer Wired (BW)
Like all new hardware, your printer first needs a physical connection to your Mac. That connection relies on a hardware interface (that is, a plug socket in your Mac) and some cabling that works with that interface. In the Mac world you'll find five basic types of interfaces: serial, LocalTalk (a special kind of serial), EtherTalk, SCSI (Small Computer System Interface), and USB (Universal Serial Bus, found on iMacs, the Blue and White Power Mac G3s, and Power Mac G4s).
