Short Shopping Tips
Take these tips with you when you shop:
Pay by credit card.
If you have a problem (your new Mac catches fire, for example) and the dealer is reluctant to resolve it, you can instruct your credit card company to withhold payment until things are worked out to your satisfaction.
Know what you want.
After tripping through the pages of this book, you'll know more about Macs than 90 percent of the salespeople you're likely to encounter. Do your homework before shopping, and resist a salesperson's attempt to sell you something you don't need.
Become a student.
Many institutions of higher learning offer students Macs at a discount. Get an education and get a Mac on the cheap! How cool is that?
