Where to Shop

Apple maintains tight control over distribution of its hardware and requires retailers to charge a certain price for its products. Therefore, you can forget about shopping around for a “cheap” new Mac. They just don't exist. That doesn't mean, however, that you can't save a few bucks by being a smart shopper.

As with shopping for books, CDs, or pepperoni pizza, you can shop for a Mac online, over the phone, or the old-fashioned way—from a local retailer. Here are some of your options:
