Your MacBook Air Says You Don’t Have Enough Memory

MacBook Air comes with 4GB of RAM (configurable to 8GB), so it’s unlikely to run out of memory very often. However, it can happen — particularly if you work with large files or many programs at once. Here are some things to try if MacBook Air is low on RAM:

bullet.tif Close large files. If you have any extremely large files open, try closing them.

bullet.tif Close running applications. Shut down any applications that you don’t need.

One common cause for low RAM on a Mac is when you have a number of applications running that you don’t know about. How can that happen? One way is to think you’ve shut down an application because you closed that application’s window, but the application remains in memory. Check the Dock and look for icons of the applications that you thought you’d closed. If you see any open apps, right-click the icon and then click Quit.

bullet.tif Log out. This should help a lot because it shuts down all your open applications and documents.
