chorus

A refrain or repeated portion of a song where repeated words are sung over a repeated melody. Also, an effect where the processed audio signal moves slightly out of time and tune with the original signal, creating the illusion of several instruments or singers.

clipping

When a signal exceeds a circuit's capacity to handle it, causing the signal to be truncated and resulting in a distorted sound.

compressor

An effect that reduces the overall volume range from the softest to the loudest by boosting lower volume and lessening higher volume parts of a signal.

cycle

GarageBand's term for looping a portion of a song.
