CHOOSING MASTER TRACK EFFECTS

You learned to adjust the volume curve of the master track to create a fade-out back in Chapter 2, “Making Music with Apple Loops,” but that only scratched the surface of what the master track can do for a song.

The master track controls several things for the overall song:

  • The key, tempo, and time signature of the song

  • The overall volume of the song at any point

  • The type of echo and reverb effect applied to a song

  • The amount of compression and equalization effect applied to the entire song

  • An additional selectable effect which can be applied to the overall song
