When you see a picture of the Mac OS X desktop, one of the first things that leaps out at you is the colorful array of icons across the bottom of the screen. This is the Dock (see Figure 2.1), and it will be the starting point for many of your Mac adventures, so it’s worth taking the time to get to know this important chunk of the Mac OS X landscape.
