Security Features

Mac OS X has a number of security features you can use to keep your files private or make it easier to access online content:

  • Keychain Access enables you to securely store passwords for accessing applications, servers, and Internet locations.

  • General Security preferences enable you to set additional security-enhancing options.

  • FileVault encrypts the contents of your Home folder so it can’t be read by hackers.

  • Firewall protects your computer from unauthorized network or Internet access.
