Setting Up Mac OS X 10.5

Before you can use Mac OS X, you must install it on your computer and configure it to work the way you need it to. The steps you need to complete to do this depend on the software currently installed on your computer.

Use the Mac OS X 10.5 installer to do one of the following:

  1. Update an existing Mac OS X installation to Mac OS X 10.5.

  2. Install Mac OS X 10.5 to replace an existing Mac OS X installation.

Then restart your computer and use the Mac OS Setup Assistant to configure Mac OS X.

This chapter explains how to properly install and configure Mac OS X 10.5 on your computer.
