One of the great things about Mac OS is the level of standardization in basic interface elements such as menus. Apple user interface guidelines mandate that each application include a number of standard menus where specific commands can be found.

For example, every application will have a File menu and that menu will always include the application’s Open, Close, New, and Print commands (if applicable). This makes it very easy to learn the basics of new software.
