6. Stay in Touch

Having a computer that doesn’t connect to the Internet is unthinkable today. And yet, not terribly long ago Apple was advertising how you could easily connect a phone cable to the iMac to get online. Times and technologies have changed (Macs no longer include modems, for example), but the basics of getting connected remain.

Once online, you’re exposed to a firehose of information. Send and receive email using Mail; browse the Web with Safari; connect directly to people via iChat; talk to friends and family using FaceTime video conferencing. Lion includes all the building blocks you need to get online and reach out to the world beyond your computer.
