This chapter introduced MySQL and ODBC for database development and connection management. MySQL provides a powerful database system that can be used to develop commercial solutions for a fraction of the price. Easily integrated with Perl, MySQL can be used for everything from web development to your own custom database applications.
ODBC support is included in Tiger in the form of iODBC and ODBC Administrator. The iODBC software, coupled with Apple's ODBC Administrator, makes it easy to connect to and manage ODBC data sources.
