Overview of Automator

There are some things we do on our Macs that are, frankly, tedious. For years the Mac has had AppleScripts, but most of us don't take advantage of them because they require programming. Well, Automator takes care of all the programming for you and lets you set up a series of actions to be accomplished automatically. You can save the series of actions as a workflow and use it over and over again.
