Talk to your ISP; check your cables

If everything seems okay on your end and you still can't get connected to the Internet, call a friend who uses the same ISP and see if she is connected. If her connection is down as well, then just let go and wait until they fix it. But if her connection is working, call the ISP. They can check your modem and help pinpoint the cause. Also check your cables! They might have wiggled loose or one might have gone bad. They do that sometimes. If you're using an Ethernet cable, make sure it's the right kind; see page 268.
