To change permissions on a file or folder

1.
Single-click on a file or folder to select it.
2.
Press Command I to display the Get Info window, as shown below.
3.
Click the disclosure triangle next to “Ownership & Permissions.”
4.
Click the little menu next to “Others” to change the permissions.
5.
When you're finished, just close the Get Info window.

Documents and folders have different sorts of permissions available.
