Allow Other Users to be Admins

An Admin can select another user and give that user Administrator privileges. In the Accounts preferences, select the user in the left panel, then go to the Password pane. Click the button to “Allow user to administer this computer.”

A standard user can give himself Admin privileges if he knows the name and password of an Administrator. All he needs to do is click the lock icon and enter the correct information.
