Organize the columns in List View

To organize the items in your list by any column, just click on a column heading to organize everything by that. For instance, if you want all the different sorts of files grouped together so you can clearly see which ones are, say, Photoshop files, organize by the “Kind” column. The column heading under which everything is organized is the blue one. For example, in the illustration on the opposite page, the items are organized by “Name.”

To alphabetize, or sort, the items in the list backwards or forwards, click the heading triangle. That is, perhaps you want the items in the “Name” column to be listed alphabetically backwards: First click on the “Name” column heading. Then single-click the tiny triangle ...
