Use System Preferences

The System Preferences control dozens of features on your Mac. Don't like the picture on your Desktop? Do you want your Mac to go to sleep sooner or later or never? Do you need to change the time because you moved? Would you like a whiny voice to yell at you every time you make a mistake? You can customize these and many other things through System Preferences. (Remember, every application has its own preferences, as explained on page 72.)

To open System Preferences, click on its icon in the Dock. Or go to the Apple menu and choose “System Preferences….”
