Complete your word automatically

The Complete command in the Edit menu pops up a menu of possible completions for an unfinished word, as shown below. The list learns new words—type a word once, then next time you start to type it, that word appears in the list. Frequently used words appear at the top.

Start to type a word that you're not sure how to spell or one that is long and you don't want to type the whole thing.

From the Edit menu, choose “Complete,” or press Option Escape. A menu like the one shown below will appear. Either double-click on the word you want, or use the Down arrow key to select a word and then hit Return.
