Getting Help

Mac OS offers several ways to get additional information and answers to questions while you work with your computer:

  • Balloon Help identifies screen items as you point to them.

  • Help Center provides information about using installed Mac OS components, such as Mac OS and AppleScript.

  • Mac Help provides information about using Mac OS.

  • Guide help provides information about using specific applications.

  • Application online help, which is included in many third-party applications, provides information about the application.

All of these help features can be accessed using commands on the Help menu (Figure 1). In this chapter, I tell you how to get help when you need it.
