Internet Applications

Mac OS 9 includes two full-featured applications for accessing the Internet:

  • Outlook Express is a Microsoft program that enables you to send and receive e-mail and participate in Internet newsgroups.

  • Internet Explorer is a Microsoft program that enables you to browse Web sites and download files from FTP sites.

In this section, I provide brief instructions for using these two programs. You can explore the other features of these programs on your own.

Tip

Outlook Express and Internet Explorer are set as the default e-mail, newsgroup, and Web browser programs. If you prefer to use other applications, be sure to change the appropriate settings in the Internet control panel, which I discuss earlier in this chapter.
