Indicator Lights

The iBook uses two different lights to communicate about its hardware:

  • Charge Lighting. When the iBook is plugged into AC power, its power adapter port glows green when the battery is fully charged or amber when the battery is being charged.

  • Beacon Sleep Lighting. When the iBook is sleeping, a light below the display dims and brightens slowly—like the gentle breathing of a sleeping computer. The light is visible whether the computer is open or closed.

Tip

The iBook battery can last up to 6 hours between charges.

Tip

I discuss system sleep in Chapter 2.
