| Tip 397 | Grab Files from FTP Servers Using Finder |
Finder includes basic FTP accessing functionality. You can browse files and folders on an FTP server and download them, but you can’t upload files. For that you’ll need to use a third-party FTP client. SFTP isn’t supported either.
To connect to an FTP server, open a Finder window, and click Go→Connect to Server. In the dialog box that appears, type ftp:// followed by the address into the Server Address field. For example, to connect to the server at ftp.example.com, I would type the following:

Then click the Connect button. You’ll be prompted for your username and password once you’ve connected. The protocol to log into public FTP servers is usually to specify anonymous
