Tip 346Use the “Linen” Background on the Desktop

Apple seems to love the “linen” background. It’s used as the backdrop for the Notification Center, for example, and on Apple’s iCloud website.[29] If you share Apple’s love, you can have a linen desktop background by following these steps:

  1. Open System Preferences (main menuSystem Preferences), click the Desktop & Screen Saver icon, and select the Desktop tab.

  2. Leaving System Preferences open, open a Finder window, hit Shift+Command+G, and type the following into the dialog box that appears, before clicking the Go button:

     
    /System/Library/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/C/Resources/NSTexturedFu
